A Melody of Love

There is within my heart a melody,
lyrics of love poetically composed,
all my innermost emotions disclosed,
my voice lifted to you in eulogy.

It's chords sweetly harmonized with your soul
Rhythmically, it's notes played on heart strings.
When sung in accord, gives the spirit wings,
lifted on high a duet sung in whole.

This is the song sung by lovers of old,
when directly smitten by Cupid's bow,
and cast suddenly beneath it's charming spell.

Vocalized anew this canticle bold,
in present generations overflow,
the melody of love of which I tell.
